Excel Introductory

While ACL may be the solution of choice for professional standard data analytics, we should not ignore perhaps the most widely available data analytic tool available – Microsoft Excel.

As an analytic tool, Excel indeed has a number of significant weaknesses, including: lack of imposed structure and control; data volume restrictions; and performance limitations. However, many simple (and some not so simple) data analytic tasks can be effectively accomplished using Excel.

Learning Objectives

We can provide hands-on training, tailored to your particular needs, covering a wide range of basic data analytic tasks, including:

  • Navigate effectively around large data sets.
  • Use of common functions to work more effectively with text, date and numeric data.
  • Summarise and profile data using PivotTables.
  • Manage and access data more effectively through the use of Tables.
  • Data verification using conditional formatting and data validation.
  • Introduction to data visualisation.
