This Christmas we’re Santa’s little helpers

Instead of the usual office Secret Santa, this year we are helping Santa out and giving gifts to KidsOut. KidsOut is a fantastic charity that helps disadvantaged children, giving them positive experiences and supporting them as they grow.

KidsOut

Every year KidsOut asks for donations to their Giving Tree. Everyone in the office was asked to buy one present for a certain child (baby, 3-4 year old girl, 12-14 year old boy etc.) , these are then donated and gifted to children on Christmas day. We think it’s a much better way of spreading Christmas cheer than the usual deodorant gift set and hopefully it will help create a few extra smiling faces on Christmas Day.

More information about KidsOut

Each year more than 20,000 children flee domestic abuse to seek sanctuary in refuge. Typically leaving home with only the clothes on their back, these children have experienced physical, emotional, and even sexual abuse and arrive at refuge with nothing. In collaboration with Women’s Aid, partner charities and corporate supporters, KidsOut works to remind these children and thousands of others living with disadvantages what it is like to be children and just have fun.

Just imagine you are a child who has…

NEVER received a gift

NEVER had a brand new toy

NEVER walked on a beach

NEVER been to a theme park

But you have…

LIVED every day in fear of abuse… and cried yourself to sleep each night

The first Rotary KidsOut National Day Out took place 25 years ago on the 13th June 1990 for only a couple hundred children. Organised by Kingston Rotary Club and Littlewoods organisation as a trial day, it proved so successful that the next year it was spread across the UK. Today KidsOut partners with Rotary to take more than 25,000 disadvantaged children on our National Day Out each year and thousands more through Fun Days. Through these initiatives KidsOut has taken hundreds of thousands of children on a fun day and provided thousands more with a Toy Box.

Whatever their disadvantage, KidsOut brings fun and excitement into children’s lives as well as hope for a better future. Believing that every young person has a right to happiness, through its life-changing work KidsOut plays a key role in shaping the future for the better.
