A slightly belated happy new year to you all. Welcome to our first newsletter of 2013 and it’s bursting with information on all that’s happening in the world of ACL. Just as a quick reminder DataConsulting is the UK channel partner of the Vancouver audit software firm ACL. We’re able to service your ACL needs whether it’s software, training or resource needs. Makes a change at the moment that it’s possibly colder and snowier in the UK than VC!
2013 sees ACL moving into and disrupting the audit working papers market with ACL Workpapers. Cloud based, usable on mobile devices, and easy to use, it represents a real viable alternative to the often expensive and difficult to use working paper solutions currently on offer on the market. Please make every effort to attend the webinar scheduled for the end of the month being run by ACL Workpapers creator Dan Zitting of ACL. Wednesday 13th February sees the first ACL User Group meeting of 2013 with Ernst & Young kindly hosting the event in London. Unfortunately I’m away on leave that week but Ben will be there to say hi. The user group meetings are a great opportunity to meet other ACL users and find out how they are getting on with ACL technology.
We’re running our first batch of training courses for 2013 during the early part of February – check out the schedule. We’re also running some good software discounts during January so get in touch if you need us to quote you a price.

The winter meeting of the London ACL User Group will be held on Wednesday 13th February at 5.30pm, at the Ernst & Young offices in London. This will be our first meeting since the ‘Olympics’ summer, so I look forward to seeing many of you.
Order-to-Cash Cycle webcast
The order-to-cash cycle can be a complicated process to analyze, let alone understand. The potential for controls gaps and weaknesses can lead to heightened risk and revenue leakage for an organization. Many of the important controls (checks/balances) involve multiple applications, people, and date sequences. It can be inherently difficult to provide assurance through the cycle of managing customer information, order entry, pricing, discounting, invoicing, receipts, and collections to identify process efficiency opportunities and prevent revenue leakage.

“No need to visit us this year,” the head of a large and well-funded department told the internal auditor over the phone. “We’re in good shape.”
The auditor, unsurprised, hung up after quietly acknowledging this implied command to stay away. “Business as usual,” he thought in longstanding frustration. Regardless, his remaining workload was overwhelming. As the sole internal auditor in a state government agency serving more than 100,000 people in hundreds of locations on a budget greater than $1 billion, the auditor had many other departments within the agency to monitor for fraud, waste and abuse.
