Kai Sunman explains his first DataConsulting away day
Friday the 21st of October marked the (slightly delayed) quarterly away day for the DataConsulting team, a day which is generally spent reflecting on the previous period and getting involved in some fun team building activities!
The chosen venue for this year was Bagden Hall Hotel in Scissett, Huddersfield. Bagden hall has proven to be a great venue in previous years and this year was no exception. On arrival we were greeted with bacon sandwiches and tea, and the morning was spent looking back over the previous 12 months at DataConsulting. It has been a great year for the company full of many success stories and memorable events both in and out of work. Robin reminded us all of the crazy sporting challenges he has taken on throughout the year and we all looked back at our holidays and the great summer weather that we probably won’t see again for a long, long time.
After a hot buffet lunch, it was time for the afternoon activities led by the amazing staff at Team Activ. Unphased by
the wind and rain, we were all eager to get outside and see what was in store for us (well, Greg was). We were split into teams and sent off on all kinds of atypical activities, ranging from collecting foliage to navigating hurdles and hoops while blindfolded – the theme was “a day at the races”, as is clear to see. Teams were awarded points after each activity based on their performance, and of course, these points were totalled at the end of the day, and there could only be one winner. Results were as follows:
1st Place: Sarah, Toby, Bes
2nd Place: David, Craig, Kai
3rd Place: Ian, Hilary, Samantha, Greg
4th Place: Robin, Rob, Jonathan
Not to be overly competitive, but there were some questionable points awarded to first place; (begging for) points for teamwork shouldn’t count in my book. Anyway, moving swiftly on, the day finished with a trip to the bar, which was the perfect opportunity to dry off and discuss the days events. Overall, another great away day for the DataConsulting team!
