On Wednesday 27th April, Manjit and I represented DataConsulting at the Yorkshire Graduate Recruitment Fair which took place at the University of Leeds. It was particularly interesting for me as that’s where I spent 4 years as a student; admittedly it felt slightly unusual being on the ‘other side of the table’ this time.
Given the recent growth of DataConsulting we have been looking to recruit and develop the team further; we welcomed Greg last month and we are very much looking forward to bringing in two further joiners in the summer. Despite these appointments, the fair provided a great chance to engage with Yorkshire’s budding talent and discuss the option of joining DataConsulting.
After a slow start waiting for students to filter through the building, we were soon talking with a great selection of people from all sorts of backgrounds which was refreshing to see. It was fantastic to see how people had prepared and researched our company online before, so they could arrive armed with questions about the opportunities within both the Sales & Marketing, and Professional Services groups. Due to the competitive nature of recruitment fairs with so many companies vying for the same talent, we used free pens, biscuits and leaflets to help entice the students in. Despite the vast array of globally recognised brands we certainly received just as much attention as any of them – we like to think we have friendly faces so maybe that helped…
Overall it was a great success and we look forward to attending the Manchester University Recruitment Fair next month. If you have attended a similar event and have any tips on how to get the best out of these fairs, please feel free to let me know at oliver.cook@www.dataconsulting.co.uk
