At the end of March DataConsulting attended the ACFE Fraud Conference in London, exhibiting alongside ACL. The two day conference saw speakers from across Europe and further afield sharing experience and thoughts about Fraud. Presentation topics included Corporate Fraud in the Baltics, the risks attached to being an auditor in the United Nations, and the challenges involved in addressing corruption at any level. It is certainly clear that the term “Fraud” is all encompassing, and aspects of Fraud must affect most of us in some way.
From a data analytics point of view we enjoyed speaking with delegates about the various ways that fraud can be embedded within data. Whether it be through computed fields, or running a Benford’s Analysis, data analytics can often identify underlying trends that may otherwise go undetected.
